March saw the band play seven dates in the States. Starting with a sold out New York show, Protex then played Philadelphia and two shows in Chicago before heading to SXSW and the venue they describe as their second home, Austin's Hotel Vegas. They then played the Grand in Austin before finishing the tour at San Antonio. The gigs and the trip were hugely enjoyable and the band thank everyone who helped put the tour together and everyone who came along and made each show so special. No sooner had Protex returned to Belfast, than plans were being finalised for three dates in Spain. The band play A Wamba Buluba in Barcelona on 8 June, Stereo in Alicante on 9 June and finish up at Madrid's Funhouse on 10 June. Full details of the shows will follow…
Protex have had to cancel their USA March dates, which were due to be announced this week. The shows in New York, Philadelphia and at Austin's SXSW festival have been pulled for personal reasons. The statement in full is below. Sadly, as a result of personal circumstances, we've had to cancel our March USA shows. Sincere apologies to all our friends in the States and as always, a huge thanks to everyone (you know who you are) who helped put it all together. We'll see you all next year and to all at SXSW, have a good one! [caption id="attachment_392" align="alignnone" width="300"] Hotel Vegas, Austin TX 17-3-15[/caption]
Protex return to Belfast's Black Box tonight to play a set at the Ramones Tribute Night, along with The Groundlings, 3D Shark, Going Full Retard and Eighty Four. The show comes just two weeks after three great nights in Belfast, Dublin and Bangor when the band played with New York's Baby Shakes and promises to be another excellent night! Next up, Rome on 24th October!
Here's the news! Quite literally! Channel 4 news reader, Krishnan Guru-Murthy made it two out of two Protex London shows, enjoying the night's proceedings with friend and gig organiser Peter Barron. This time the band were joined by Spizzenergi and The Bad Things, and a great time was had by all. Next up, Lisburn, Dublin and Bangor in August!
